The Edge U Talking Funny 2018

Edge of Fear (2018) Poster

Great.... As a comedy.

Warning: Spoilers

Genuinely not laughed this much at a film in awhile. To start the acting with the non prison break stars is laughably bad, the man who gets stabbed in the chest has some of the worst yet truly comical stumbling about from a knife wound I've ever seen. The sex on the bed while he hides under it and the bouncing bed almost hitting the knife in his chest is so funny is I was bordering on tears of laughter. Then he proceeds to enter the room where the woman is taking a shower and somehow doesn't bother with her and takes a few meds to ease his sore head. She jumps out the shower fully naked and kicks his little booty a few times before a well placed shin strike miraculously kills her. More comical stumbling down the stairs then a nice little speech from his wife while he sits and listens patiently. Our Macaulay culkin wannabe Spikes some drinks for fun and Sucre dies from poisoning in a way Vladimir Putin would be proud of. Now a man takes a walk in the woods and puts his phone on loud speaker so the guy from terminator can talk to the birds. Rambo hides under some grass then does a Michael Jackson dance when he gets up to celebrate hiding so well. He stumbles about doing a chicken dance some more before pepper spraying a random guy and stealing his car. He runs over Mr headshot who now can't hit a shot to save his actual life, he dies surprise surprise and now he gifts the bad guys the shiny new van he got for them, they accept and take his wife for sex later before driving away. Stab wound Rambo somehow gets a tractor and crashes it into the van, guys I'm honestly not making this up. This is what happens. Stabby boy turns into Bruce lee with a leg sweep before teabag shots mr terminator dead. Our "hero's" wife is tied up in the van and it's on fire just because. He now after the entire film takes out the knife from his chest and uses to cut the cords and free his wife before they jump out of the burning van doing a roly poly. They both survive and she's now pregnant and they visit "Michael Dwyers" grave before walking away to create more comedy somewhere else. The end. Action film with story 0/10 comedy value 10/10.

Truly bad

Really, oh my God, what utter drivel!! The main male Chinese actor is so so bad. The story line so ridiculous and obvious. Who in the hell is telling these people to act in these utterly stupid movies!

Edge of Crap

Cartoonishly bad. It's not 1 star because it's very professionally put together from the point of camera and sound but otherwise it was written directed and acted for trash. Is this Chinese money laundering? Does Robert Patrick owe the IRS?. Wow this is seriously bad

Makes you want to shoot yourself

Warning: Spoilers

My first ever review, because I feel I had to sign up and warn people of this absolutely terrible movie. If you are waiting for something exciting to happen, then this is not the movie for you. I watched a Chinese guy get stabbed in the heart, then stumble around for 5 hours accidentally killing a load of bad guys in self defense. There is also the bonus of plenty of scenes which have no relevance or impact to the storyline at all. Bad acting. Bad choreography. Bad scriptwriting. However, so bad, that it actually became funny.

Complete vomit

Warning: Spoilers

My favourite scene.

"Patrick" leaves the house with a bottle of wine.

The ratty guy follows the red wine trail out to the green tractor where he finds the wine bottle.

Talks on the phone and then leaves.

Suddenly we learn that "Patrick" was only a few feet away, hiding under some dry grass.

That was some plan "Patrick" had, ey?

He leaves a trail of red wine out to the tractor, then he hides himself under a pile of grass. Clearly he wanted one of the bad guys to follow him. And the plan worked perfectly, except, nothing happened. It turned out there was no kucking plan. The bad guy just went back in the house.

Brilliant.

Who doesn't like a good home-invasion film?

I really enjoyed this film. I thought the story was interesting and a new twist on an old favorite. I agree Patrick (Shen Lin) was not the best actor here, but the character was interesting and we were rooting for him. There are some familiar actors in the cast - - not surprisingly because Bobby Roth also directs Prison Break, as well as numerous episodes of various popular dramas like Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, and Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D. Sounds pretty well-connected. I didn't watch Prison Break but recognize Rockmond Dunbar from his woke family character in 911. The videography is good, the venue is good, there are some interesting surprises.

I see at least 2 reviews mention something about a hidden message; one which implied it has to do with the deer. This makes me wish people would just say what they mean rather than talk in riddles to avoid having to add a spoiler tag. Do they think this is pay-back for killing the buck? If so, I (as an animal lover and a vegetarian) disagree that the writer had this in mind. Being in a hunting lodge is super common American fare, especially for a thriller film.

I think a lot of the low stars in this forum are just disappointed in two Chinese actors being the leads. But if it makes you feel better, the story was written by a Daxing Zhang. So it's not just the them "trying to break into Hollywood" as one person claimed. Their women have actually never had a problem literally already being in Hollywood (becoming a sex symbol after we sent out military overseas in WWII). And there are some famous men, as well, including Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan. Because this film simply doesn't deserve the low stars. It's well-paced, intriguing, surprising, and at times tender.

Prison Break 2.0?

For the first five minutes, I was completely confused about what I was watching as four or five actors with roles in Prison Break made an appearance. That was where my curiosity died a cruel death because this film is predictable beyond belief. There were no plot twists and I could see the ending a mile away, which is a shame because I like many of the featured actors. Don't waste your time and find a Robert Patrick film that actually showed his skills instead. My first review because this film was THAT bad!

Grade F movie, wasted my time watching it. Poor acting and story line. Cringe lines as well. Seriously, worse movie ever. I had to sign up with Imdb just to write this review. Whoever is involved please dont make movies anymore.

Who do you blame for this?

The actor, like walking 100 yard with a knife in his heart, the writers who thought he could do it, or the director who made things happen that aren't plausible.

CRAP FILM!!! ONLY CHECKED IT OUT BECAUSE I'M A ROBERT PATRICK FAN

Really boring & no one stands out & it's just dull & i feel sorry for ROBERT PATRICK because he's a great actor but constantly gets stupid Villain roles in really bad films!!! I'm not knocking this because it's a Low-budget B-movie because i love most of these types of flicks because within the B-movie Genre of films we get our favourite Cult stars like Tom Atkins, Robert Patrick, William Sadler, Ron Perlman & Robert Davi to name a few that i love. This is just a boring crime Thriller with nothing good or exciting at all. Robert Patrick deserves so much better

Emptiness under the hay

Warning: Spoilers

Ok. I'll say this. Kind of an interesting first ten minutes with a tight bond being established between two Chinese doctors and an American guy they save from dying. Fast forward some years and they all hang out in the Americans cabin out in the woods. A little hunting and wine drinking combined with showering - and from there on it goes south.

Close by a prison bus is hijacked by a group of thugs who collects one important guy from the bus, and kills the others. The writers makes it clear from the start that we are suppose to hate every single member of the criminals except for the guy who's been collected. Their truck gets shot at and the gang goes by foot and eventually end up at the cabin.

The bond that was established in the beginning means nothing as the American gets killed of relatively fast. Then the male doctor escapes death and goes on a vengeance hunt with a knife in his heart. Yes. A knife. In his heart. The guy has zero combat experience and starts to whoopsie-doopsie-kill off the thugs. You would think that when your whole gang one by one gets murdered by an (to their initial knowledge) unknown assasain, there would be a reaction close to a little bit human from the ones still alive. But no. Not a single showing of fear, sadness, panicking or who knows what. The main antagonist is as stone cold stiff as a T-1000 forever waiting by the police radio in case some Connor news drop. This flick is for those who crave bad guys to be ultra bad and good guys to be nothing but pure good.

Oh, and the peak: One time the protagonist hides perfectly under some hay. Half dead hiding perfectly under hay in the middle of the day close to his pray. Did I mention he's on the lawn and not in a barn? Two thumbs up to the guy who helped him and then magically disappeared. Because I'm ruling out that he could have done that himself, with knife in heart and all. Right, writers?

It's a rent.

Oh, It's not that bad ! But it's not good either

Warning: Spoilers

First, in my opinion, nobody does 'Central Florida white trash ex-convict' better than Robert Patrick. However, the rest of the cast was horrible. The main guy (the guy with knife stuck in heart, but still alive) seemed to move like he was right out of a Jackie Chan movie.

The guy who's life was saved in the hospital by the Asian doctor gets killed early on, doesn't make any sense.

Also, I could have done without the bed scene with the fat white girl .

I thought the cabin was pretty cool, so there's that.

Not Braven

REVIEW - EDGE OF FEAR

With a synopsis that sounded quite good and starring one of my favourite actor's I thought why not.

Basically a simple story of a group of bad guys and one gal trying to get someone delivered to Mexico and needing a car, so stumble across a house.

Braven had a very similar story but centered around drugs, unfortunately this film just doesn't deliver as Braven did.

Remember the pace / action is slower in thus film because the main hero has been stabbed through the heart.

Robert Patrick needs a good film after Scorpion was cancelled, unfortunately this isn't it.

Nice story, excellent acting, slow with one twist which I saw a mile away.

Rating 5 out of 10

Much better than expected

Warning: Spoilers

EDGE OF FEAR is a surprisingly enjoyable little home invasion thriller, much better than you'd expect given the OTT reviews on this site. Sure, it's made on a tiny budget and it has an average script at best, but the film does contain some decent performances from decent actors and it has a great deal of suspense which I wasn't expecting either. The film features two unknown Chinese actors as the leads, Shen Lin and Zhu Zhu, and very good they are too playing an average couple caught up in a nightmare. The idea of having the hero mortally wounded early on the proceedings is a clever one that helps loads, and there are some imaginative moments along the way, particularly involving battery acid. Some of the deaths are too easy and too safe, and there's at least one crude scene that should have been excised altogether. However, Robert Patrick is full of menace as the villain and Robert Knepper far more than just a supporting baddie. Check it out, you might just be surprised.

Slow and hard to swallow

Warning: Spoilers

This variation of the movie "Die Hard" set in a rural house and the surrounding woods could have worked with enough care and thinking by the filmmakers before and during shooting. But ultimately, it's a very forgettable viewing experience. Robert Patrick does add some spark to the movie in his scenes, though his advancing age does prevent him from making some serious impact. The main reason why the movie fails is that it's executed for the most part in a dull fashion. The movie creeps along very slowly, taking forever between each instance the hero makes a kill. And the kills and other action sequences are directed in a flat and dull fashion. Almost as big of a problem is that there are a number of scenes where it's really hard to swallow what is happening. The predicament of the hero makes it difficult that he's able to do everything that he manages to do, among other problems. This is not deserving of a one star rating out of ten, like many people here have labelled it - I have seen many other movies that are even worse - but all the same, it's not even worth watching for free on Netflix.

Not bad

Was this movie of the year? Not really. Would I watch this again? Probably not. But I still liked this one. Story was simple enough, even romantic. This wasn't the average action flick where hero is punching and kicking the bad guys until all of them, the hero included, look like a pile of raw meat. There were plenty of moments which reminded me of MacGyver (original series), which up to this day still remains on my personal top 10 favorites list. Hero is basically an average joe with no skills or means to gun down the bad guys.

I warmly recommend this if you're like me, in serious need of a break from shaky cam and god-modding meatheaded heroes.

Ummm.....

Initially I thought this movie was really bad, and I still do. There are so many holes. I need some of those "all day tough under threat of death" pills the doc must have been taking. And her husband definitely had super powers. Who knew a body could work so well with a knife stuck in the chest? Ok. So why do I keep watching? I'm turning as soon as I finish writing this review because I have absolutely no interest in seeing how it ends. Oh wait, something's about to happen - well for crying out loud! That is a Incredibly stupid ending. I'm just saying ...
